The practice of medicine is about helping people and helping humankind, but that mindset goes beyond treating physical illnesses and injuries.

Dr. Alexander Zuriarrain became a plastic surgeon because he wanted to help people and because of his love of people. He is one of the few surgeons in the country to hold four board certifications and has been consistently rated among the best. He has performed more than 8,000 surgical procedures. All of his time spent helping others has blossomed into a robust campaign of giving back in hopes that more people will live their lives to the fullest and enjoy the benefits of the beautiful planet we all call our home, Earth.

The Ocean Clean Up

We’re coastal Floridians. Our lives, livelihoods, and futures depend on clean, vibrant, healthy ocean water. Zuri Plastic Surgery is proud to provide sizable annual support for The Ocean Clean Up.

The Ocean Clean Up

The Ocean Clean Up is a non-profit organization that continues to develop new technologies for removing plastic from our oceans. The project’s ambitious goal is to remove up to 90 percent of floating ocean plastic pollution. It’s a two-prong effort:

  • Close the sources of pollution
  • Clean up the plastic that’s already polluting ocean water

The organization’s new focus is testing its emerging technology in an area called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and deploying more “river interceptor” devices, with the goal of having 15 interceptors in place by the end of 2022. The Ocean Clean Up technology can efficiently intercept plastic in rivers before it reaches our oceans.

Started in 2013 by volunteers, The Ocean Clean Up now has more than 100 employees and has removed more than two million pounds of trash from the environment. This is the largest clean-up of its kind in history.

The Ocean Clean Up would love nothing better than to someday soon put itself out of business! With your help, and ours, it’s possible.

We invite you to follow The Ocean Clean Up on social media and encourage you to donate to this wonderful initiative at theoceanleanup.com.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Pediatric Plastic Surgery

You can probably understand why this subject tugs at our hearts. There is an overwhelming global need for pediatric plastic surgery.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

“Dedicated to making a profound impact in the life of a child,” the Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery programs at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital locations throughout South Florida provide world-class treatments to correct congenital deformities and perform cosmetic reconstructions.

Nothing is more stressful for a family than caring for and worrying about a child with a deformity, whether congenital or caused by a medical condition or accident. The objective of pediatric plastic surgery is always to correct anomalies and provide a child with a normal life.

All participating pediatric plastic surgeons have advanced training in children’s plastic surgery and are all certified by the Board of Pediatrics.

Pediatric surgical procedures performed at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital include, but are not limited to:

  • Brachial plexus and peripheral nerve reconstruction
  • Cleft lip and palate repair
  • Ear deformity correction
  • Ear reconstruction
  • Hand surgery
  • Nerve transfers
  • Orbital and ocular surgery
  • Craniofacial surgery

If you know of a child who could benefit from pediatric plastic surgery, you are encouraged to book an appointment at nicklauschildrens.org. Donations and gifts can be made through that same site.

The Nicklaus Hospital sprang from the vision and humanity of golf great Jack Nicklaus. As adults, we never stand taller than when we bend to help a child. Giving is receiving.

At Zuri Plastic Surgery, we believe that the opportunity and ability to help one another is an esteemed privilege. We also believe in taking care of our planet, without which we have nothing. We invite you to join us in our efforts to make the world a better place.

Giving helps the recipient. But giving also lifts and restores the giver. It is indeed blessed, and a blessing, to give. Under the guidance and commitment of Dr. Z, Zuri Plastic Surgery is unwaveringly committed to charitable and philanthropic giving. We encourage other individuals and organizations to do the same.

Dr. Z works hard to champion two organizations that we hold close, and we hope you will join him and consider supporting those organizations as well. But regardless of your chosen charitable recipients, we hope you will give wherever your gift can be of service to our fellow human beings.

It will make you feel better about the world and about yourself. Here’s why and how.

  • You can make an impact.
  • You can meet others.
  • You can boost your health.
  • You can broaden your horizons.
  • You can sharpen your skills and discover new ones.
  • You can find new professional and personal opportunities.
  • You can polish up your resume.
  • You can share your knowledge and expertise.
  • You can strengthen communities.
  • And finally…because it just feels good!

Find your purpose. Be the ripple that starts a wave of goodness, and join Dr. Z in his efforts to make this world a better place and share in these benefits.
