Any woman who is unhappy with her current implants for one reason or another or is looking to make a lifestyle change is a great candidate for our Miami Breast Revision procedure. You should be in good physical health, be a non-smoker and have a stable weight.
It really depends on the extent of your surgery and how active you are. The more in shape you are, the shorter your recovery period will be. You will definitely need to take it easy at first and get plenty of rest. Most active women can start more intense cardio after a couple of weeks, and resume all activities after six weeks.
Breast implant revisions have been proven to be safe. But any surgery carries some potential complications, and with Breast Revision, these can include skin loss or discoloration, seroma, scarring, numbness, issues with the healing of the incisions, hematoma, deep vein thrombosis, capsular contracture, bleeding, or a bad reaction to anesthesia.
It will take at least six weeks for the swelling to subside substantially. In the meantime, your breasts will begin to feel softer. Allow a year for your breasts to fully settle into place to see the full and symmetrical results.
The areolas are the large pigmented area that surrounds the nipples. They differ in size and color for each woman. Because areolas can be different sizes, they can make some women feel self-conscious and affect their self-confidence. Sometimes, there can be one areola that is disproportionate to the other one.
When it comes to nipples, a woman may have long or droopy nipples along with her puffy or enlarged areola. Nipples can be a source of pain and discomfort due to their size. Dr. Z performs areola reduction for mainly aesthetic needs. Nipple reduction may be required to improve the overall aesthetic outcome.
Prior to the surgery, Dr. Z will mark the area where the incisions will take place. The Breast Revision will be the larger portion of the surgery. Expect the treated area to be tender at first. The implants will be removed and replaced. Since breast sizes can be different or may have been affected by the aging process, the areola and nipple may need to be relocated. This is why areola reduction and nipple correction are best done with breast revision procedures.
Dr. Zuriarrain will cut a circle around the nipple, with a second concentric incision, before removing the donut piece of tissue. The nipple can be corrected before permanent sutures are used to close all of the incisions. Once all these procedures are complete, the areola will be a new size and in a natural position on your breasts.

It can take around a week for most of the swelling and bruising to subside and you can plan on returning to work. You will need to refrain from doing any physical activity for a few weeks until all the soreness and swelling have dissipated and healed. You should start to see results after a few weeks following the breast revision and for the areola and nipple corrections.
